Problem

Individuals struggling with their mental health are forced to navigate a fragmented landscape of standalone apps and resources, each targeting only one specific need, making it difficult to find holistic, personalized support in one accessible place.

Solution

Comfort Zone unifies diverse therapeutic approaches—from guided breathing and AI-recommended content to interactive exercises—into a single, intuitive free app that adapts to each user's unique needs and provides seamless access to multiple stress-relief methods whenever and wherever they are needed.

Research

To move beyond assumptions, I conducted informal interviews and surveys with potential users to understand their current coping mechanisms. The answers were varied and insightful. Some found solace in the rhythmic act of writing, others in immersive games or videos, and many in simple, guided breathing exercises.

Synthesizing the Findings

These diverse responses were synthesized into three primary user personas. These personas became our north star, guiding every design decision to ensure we were building for real people with real, varied needs.

With our personas in hand, the problem became clearer. The challenge wasn't just building another meditation app; it was about creating a unified ecosystem that could cater to Jenna's need for reflection, Gary's need for distraction, and Vanessa's need for emotional alignment—all within one seamless experience.

Research Question

How might we provide a seamless, personalized journey for mental health app users from the moment they open it?

Design

To make Comfort Zone easily accessible to consumers, it was designed to be free and allow users to seamlessly access the different pages through the app. By providing multiple means of stress-targeted methods, users are able to go through the app depending on which features they are in need of at given times.
